On December 13th, Baccarat Vietnam marked a milestone—260 years of extraordinary legacy as one of the world’s most iconic crystal maisons. The celebration was a masterful blend of tradition and modernity, bringing Baccarat’s enduring artistry and innovative spirit to life. At the heart of the event was the poetic story of the four natural elements—fire, water, air, and sand—reflecting the essence of Baccarat’s inspiring art de vivre.
The day-long event brought a multi-sensory experience, beginning with an elegant morning tea ritual and concluding with a savory evening feast. These two parts harmonized beautifully, connecting the artistry of Baccarat with a lifestyle rooted in appreciation and sophistication.
Founded in 1764, Baccarat has become synonymous with timeless craftsmanship and creativity. At the event, the welcoming space showcased crystal masterpieces that encapsulated Baccarat’s journey through the centuries. Six iconic collections were on display, each a testament to the brand’s unparalleled artistry, blending human ingenuity with the beauty of natural elements.
Baccarat’s creative philosophy draws inspiration from the four elements of nature. With its intense heat, fire molds and enhances crystal vibrancy. Water, a symbol of purity, brings a luminous clarity. Air provides the energy for precision, while sand—the material’s origin—holds limitless creative potential. The intersection of these elements transcends mere craftsmanship; it has become Baccarat's artistic philosophy, bringing timeless works to life.
The pieces exhibited at the event witness Baccarat's storied history, telling tales of heritage and innovation. Baccarat affirms crystal artistry is where profound traditional values meet contemporary creativity, creating an enduring legacy.
The event space was held with a contemporary aesthetic, emphasizing minimalism, elegance, and functionality. It featured clear lines, neutral colors, and unique focal points, harmonizing art with living spaces. Subtle lighting and meticulous arrangements turned the space into an immersive art gallery where each piece could be admired in its full splendor.
The tea culture ceremony was led by artisans Trần Thị Mộng Kiều and Huyền Đinh, offering guests a refined journey of discovery. Tea culture in Vietnam has become a symbol of connection, lifestyle, and philosophy. With teas such as Hà Giang Black Tea, Ta Xua Snow Shan, and Oolong, each variety presented unique characteristics, from robust flavors to delicate notes, showcasing the diversity and sophistication of Vietnamese tea culture.
The journey began with exploring two time-honored brewing techniques: cold brewing and hot water infusion. Guests enjoyed jasmine tea, delicately curated by artisans in Hanoi, brewed using cold methods with still and sparkling mineral water, and served in Chateau Flute glasses. The tall, narrow design concentrated aromas at the nose, allowing guests to savor the cool, refreshing notes on the palate fully.
Next, artisan Mộng Kiều masterfully demonstrated the hot infusion technique.
The centerpiece was the Biba Tumbler glass with its flared rim, the ideal choice for enjoying Hà Giang Black Tea. Renowned for its deep fragrance, subtle sweetness, and long-lasting finish, the tea evoked images of Hà Giang's rolling tea hills.
The glass's wide mouth preserved the full aroma, while the bottomless brown tea seamlessly blended with the transparent crystal's beauty, creating an elegant tea experience.
The Harmonie glass, with its straight shape and minimalist design, highlighted the pure elegance of Tà Xùa Snow Shan tea. This tea is noted for its delicate fragrance, light bitterness, and sweet aftertaste, perfectly balanced in every sip and preserved by the glass's structure.
With its slightly tapered mouth, the Chateau glass was innovatively used for Oolong tea – a tea with a luxurious amber hue and a rich, layered aroma. The shape focused delicate aromas at the nose, while the polished crystal accentuated the tea's vibrant color, captivating both vision and scent.
Each tea ceremony stage was deeply connected to nature, reflecting sustainability and respect for natural values. Every detail was executed meticulously, from carefully chosen water to precise temperatures that enhanced the tea's flavors.
In the evening, guests enjoyed French cuisine. Each dish served at the dinner table told the story of Baccarat through the culinary artistry of Chef Sakal Phoeung. Of French-Cambodian descent, Chef Sakal Phoeung – founder of Le Corto restaurant in 2016 – brought a unique menu refined from over 25 years of experience in Michelin-starred French establishments. A holder of the "Maîtres Cuisiniers de France" title, he invited diners on a remarkable culinary journey.
Select wines enhanced French cuisine's brilliance and elevated the guests' experiences.
Red wine was served in the JCB glass, whose wide bowl and perfect curvature allowed it to "breathe" while concentrating its alluring aromas at the nose. The deep red hue of the wine paired beautifully with the elegance of Baccarat crystal.
The Chateau Flute glass was used for the welcome drink. Its blend of classical shape and modern lines created a graceful and warm reception.
Meanwhile, white wine was served in the Chateau glass. Its sleek design and perfect curvature delicately revealed the wine's aromatic notes.
The pale gold of the white wine shone brilliantly, enhanced by Baccarat's crystal clarity.
The Massena and Harcourt Flute glasses were reserved for champagne. Their slender, tall silhouettes preserved the champagne's delicate bubbles, evoking a sense of brilliance and sparkle – the perfect complement to an extraordinary celebration.
The culinary techniques and presentation at the event embodied the "art de vivre" spirit while reflecting Asian culture through intricate attention to detail – from colors and flavors to arrangements – honoring nature and aligning perfectly with Baccarat's crystal-making philosophy.
Baccarat has been a timeless icon of art and creativity for over two centuries. The 260th-anniversary celebration was not just an occasion to honor the journey so far but also a vision of a future where art and life intertwine, continuing to inspire through creations that bear the mark of time.
