The Artura Spider, an exquisite fusion of artistic design and futuristic technology, has made its grand debut in the Vietnamese market.

On December 5th, McLaren Ho Chi Minh City proudly unveiled the Artura Spider to the Vietnamese market for the first time. At the event, Ms. Tu Le, Chief Operating Officer of S&S Group, shared her excitement: “The name “Artura” is a combination of Art and Futura – the future. The Artura Coupe, first launched in 2022, received high praise from experts and enthusiasts for its captivating design and cutting-edge technology, not only from its powerful hybrid engine but also from the most advanced software of its time. However, McLaren never stands still. The global debut of the Spider version once again affirmed the Artura line's philosophy of art meeting the future, positioning it as a leader in its segment in many aspects. Therefore, we are extremely proud to introduce this masterpiece to all our esteemed guests.”

In the showroom modeled after a futuristic tech universe, the Artura Spider in Lantana Purple was officially introduced to customers. This special paint, crafted by the McLaren Special Operations (MSO) team, makes the car shimmer in different shades of purple under various lighting conditions. The Artura Spider showcased at the launch is the MY 2025 version, equipped with numerous upgrades for 2025, positioning it at the forefront of the hybrid supercar race.

Mr. Laurent Jaegel, Product Director for the Asia-Pacific region at McLaren, also attended the event. Representing the automaker, he shared: “The launch of Artura Spider is so much more than the introduction of a retractable hard top. It brings a whole suite of upgrades to power, sound, chassis and suspension to the Artura model line-up. It further amplifies the performance and delivers a truly exhilarating drive experience like no other.”

Retaining its aerodynamic design from the Coupe version, the most striking exterior feature of the Artura Spider is its retractable roof, which can open or close in just 11 seconds at speeds up to 50 km/h. With the option of Electrochromic glass panel, the roof can switch from transparent to opaque in seconds, blocking up to 99% of UV rays. Additionally, to enhance style and expand visibility, McLaren has replaced the rear buttresses, previously matching the body color, with glass material.

Another notable difference compared to the Artura Coupe is the redesigned rear of the Artura Spider. During production, engineers faced the challenge of incorporating the retractable roof without compromising the car's performance. To address this, a new approach to the airflow system was implemented. The rear chimney was moved further back to make room for the retracted roof. Additionally, two new air intakes were added to maintain a cool airflow over the engine.

In terms of power, the Artura Spider boasts 700 PS, combining a V6 internal combustion engine with an electric motor, an increase of over 20 PS compared to the Coupe version. With a weight only 62 kg more than the Coupe, the Artura Spider has a power-to-weight ratio of 480 PS per ton, an impressive figure considering its total weight of 1,457 kg, making it the lightest car in its segment.

In terms of driving dynamics, the engine mounts have been reinforced, providing a greater steering feel and agility. The adaptive damper control system has been upgraded, with 90% faster reaction time to changes in the road condition and driver input. The rearbox has been revised with a pre-fill feature that provides faster gearchanges, with shift speeds now 25% faster. Additionally, the soundtrack has been improved to provide a cleaner, more dramatic and engaging exhaust note thanks to the addition of exhaust valves.

Thanks to numerous design refinements, the Artura Spider boasts impressive speed figures. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3 seconds and reaches 200 km/h in 8.4 seconds, with a top speed of 330 km/h. The Spinning Wheel Pull Away control technology, previously only available on LT models, has now been added to the Artura Spider. This feature enables a more dramatic acceleration from standstill, enhancing the driving experience with added excitement.

Moreover, in order to enjoy a truly unique ownership experience, customers can collaborate with the MSO team to create a supercar tailored to their personal preferences. With over 400 paint colors and numerous customizable interior details, McLaren's experts will craft exclusive Artura Spider versions for each individual client.

In addition to the star of the event, the Artura Spider in Lantana Purple, the McLaren Ho Chi Minh City showroom also featured other McLaren supercars. During the event, McLaren Ho Chi Minh City revealed that in 2025, Vietnam will be one of only two Asian markets to introduce the special MSO edition of the 750S Spider, named Coriolis.
