There are brands whose worth is not measured by time, but by the eternity of the values they have engraved into history. Baccarat is one such symbol — over 260 years standing at the crossroads of art and power, where fire, water, air, and sand are transformed into masterpieces of light. In Ho Chi Minh City, as part of the VPBank Private launch series, Baccarat’s exhibition “The Art of Craftsmanship”unveils a rare journey — one that invites Vietnamese connoisseurs into a universe where heritage and modernity converge in luminous harmony.
Prelude – Light Leads the Way
Stepping through the entrance — draped in deep crimson hues and traced with brilliant white light — guests are transported into another dimension: a realm where time stands still and every delicate reflection pays homage to Baccarat’s legacy of craftsmanship.
“The Art of Craftsmanship” unfolds as a symphony of light, crystal, and emotion — a poetic continuation of the French Maison’s three-century journey celebrating the artistry of human hands. Each space is conceived as a chapter in a luminous narrative, guiding visitors deeper into a world where fire, sand, and time converge to create a material so pure it seems to capture light itself. Every detail sparks a dialogue between past and future, heritage and innovation.
More than an exhibition, “The Art of Craftsmanship” is a declaration of the enduring beauty of precision — an invitation to those who cherish the art of living, where the spirit of craftsmanship is not merely preserved but reborn in the aesthetic language of the 21st century.
Haute Couture and the Art of Sculpting Light
In the first gallery, visitors are enveloped in a world of deep black — a mysterious canvas punctuated by Baccarat’s signature shade of seductive red. To the right, the striking silhouette of the Tulaz chandelier emerges like a beacon of craftsmanship, illuminating the space with sculpted light. Each crystal facet captures and refracts its brilliance, reflecting three centuries of savoir-faire and the deft hands that have shaped the legacy of the French Maison.
Here, the brand’s manifesto unfolds as a declaration of an unwavering creative philosophy — where light becomes the language of emotion, and beauty is sculpted through absolute refinement. For Baccarat, crystal is more than a material; it is a vessel through which humanity preserves its most radiant moments — captured in form, clarity, and reflection.
If fashion has haute couture, then Baccarat, too, possesses its own moments of transcendence. In the Haute Couture Collection, every cut becomes a dance of light; every facet, a prism of a thousand shimmering sparks. Behind this brilliance lies absolute precision — a mastery of craft passed down through generations, the very secret that has captivated royalty and connoisseurs for centuries. For when they raise a glass, they are not merely toasting — they are holding in their hands a testament to the sublime power of human artistry.
The space lingers in a sense of awe. Under shifting light, the crystal cuts seem to breathe — radiating an aura that is at once powerful and pure. In that fleeting moment, the viewer understands: true beauty is not merely seen, but felt — through light, emotion, and the pure wonder evoked by the perfection of craftsmanship.
Defining Moments of Brilliance
Stepping into the second space, visitors are spellbound by the sheer mastery of savoir-faire — where legendary craftsmanship unfolds in all its splendor and absolute precision. Iconic collections emerge like chapters in the grand history of French crystal: every cut, every reflection of light tells a story of gifted hands and an unbounded creative spirit preserved by Baccarat for more than two centuries.
Here, visitors do more than admire timeless masterpieces — they engage in a dialogue with the very language of craftsmanship. Baccarat’s savoir-faire is not merely technique; it is an art of passion — where light is shaped, crystal is given soul, and refinement becomes a living legacy. For at Baccarat, beauty is not simply created; it is passed on — from hand to hand, from generation to generation, like an eternal flame of light.
The Language of Form and Nature
In art and architecture, form has always been the fundamental language through which humanity interprets the world. From the pyramids of Egypt to the domes of Rome and the masterpieces of modern design, geometry has long embodied our pursuit of balance, order, and the hidden beauty of nature.
Baccarat, too, finds inspiration in this eternal language. Yet while architects shape grandeur from stone and steel, Baccarat’s artisans discover magnificence in light itself. And they have chosen the most demanding path — to sculpt form within monumental vessels of crystal.
Standing before these creations, one cannot help but wonder: how can human hands achieve such perfection upon a block of crystal weighing hundreds of kilograms? A single crack, an imperceptible flaw — no wider than a strand of hair — would be enough to undo it all.
It is this very courage — the audacity to turn abstraction into reality, to bring immutable laws of geometry to life within the most fragile of materials — that defines Baccarat’s triumph. And in that moment, we no longer see merely a crystal vase, but the pride of human hands rising to meet the eternal challenge of beauty.
Nature, Reimagined in Crystal
Leaving behind the world of geometric form, we enter another universe — Baccarat’s universe of nature. Here, lions, tigers, panthers, and eagles are more than crystal sculptures; they are moments crystallized in time — a stretch, a gaze, a beat of wings, each transformed into eternity.
Unlike painting or traditional sculpture, crystal allows artisans to capture vitality within stillness. In these creations, one senses both the surge of power and the calm of eternity — as if nature itself were frozen in light.
Behind this beauty lies a promise: Baccarat chooses to walk with nature, not against it. Today, every stage of production embraces recyclable materials — from crystal to packaging and operations. These crystal animal sculptures, therefore, are more than works of art; they stand as a gentle reminder of the enduring harmony between humanity, artistry, and our planet.
Printemps Bleu – Where Cultures Meet in Harmony
The moment of beholding Printemps Bleu marks the emotional crescendo of the exhibition. Conceived by international designer Steve Leung in collaboration with Baccarat’s master artisans, Printemps Bleu is a bold reinterpretation of the Maison’s iconic Zenith chandelier. The masterpiece fuses clear and cobalt-blue crystal with Limoges porcelain shades, within which delicate Qinghua (blue-and-white) motifs are subtly veiled beneath translucent porcelain. As light radiates through, ethereal blue petals seem to flutter and bloom, their reflections shimmering in crystal — a mesmerizing dance of light that feels at once contemporary and eternal.
Only 60 pieces have been crafted worldwide — and this marks the first and exceptionally rare unveiling of the masterpiece in Vietnam.
New Antique – The Timeless Dialogue Between Past and Present
Entering the final chapter, the exhibition unveils New Antique — a collection born from the collaboration between Baccarat and Marcel Wanders. It is a delicate convergence of classic and contemporary, where timeless designs are reborn through a modern creative lens.
In the hands of Marcel Wanders, crystal retains its heritage of intricate craftsmanship, yet embraces a freer, more daring expression. Soft curves and stylized details compose a symphony where past and present meet in harmony.
New Antique stands as a bridge — a luminous “knot” that ties the entire journey together, reminding us that heritage is not immutable, but can be reborn in new forms, ever radiant, ever alive.
