Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Ho Chi Minh City showcased the brand's first all-electric masterpiece, the Spectre, alongside the Clanivona electric piano from Yamaha Music, highlighting their vision of an electrified and digitized future.
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Ho Chi Minh City recently organized an event to showcase the Spectre, the brand's first all-electric vehicle. Alongside the Spectre, the event also featured the Clanivona electric piano from Yamaha Music, creating a symphony heralding the era of electrification.
In 1900, during an interview with a magazine, Sir Charles Stewart Rolls, the co-founder of Rolls-Royce, shared his vision of an electric vehicle future: “The electric car is perfectly noiseless and clean. There is no smell or vibration. They should become very useful when fixed charging stations can be arranged.”
From Sir Rolls' prophecy, the Spectre emerges as a declaration of the brand's vision and a symbol of a bold and bright future as Rolls-Royce enters the electrification era. The commitment to a fully electric drivetrain promises to elevate the Rolls-Royce experience, featuring instant torque delivery, silent operation, and seamless shifting. The ‘Decentralised Intelligence’ system enables direct and easy communication between thousands of individual vehicle features, further enhancing the brand's signature smooth ride experience.
The design of the Spectre draws inspiration from fields far beyond the automotive world, including high fashion, sculpture, nautical design, and contemporary art. The 'waft line' beneath the car's body is directly inspired by yacht design. Rather than exaggerating motion with intricate details, the Spectre's 'waft line' is gently positioned alongside the doorsill, illuminating the surface and creating a sense of movement by reflecting the road, much like how a yacht's hull reflects the ocean as it cuts through the water.
The taillights are integrated into the largest single body panel ever produced for a Rolls-Royce, extending from the A-pillar to the trunk. This feature will be available in numerous colors for customers to choose from during the customization process.
The Spirit of Ecstasy emblem on the Spectre has been specially refined to suit its design. The new version features a lower, more streamlined stance, enhancing the car aerodynamics.
To match the expansive proportions of the Spectre, this is the first two-door commercial coupe from Rolls-Royce in over 100 years to be equipped with 23-inch wheels.
For the first time in a commercial Rolls-Royce, the interior comes equipped with Starlight Doors, featuring 4,796 softly glowing 'stars.' Customers also have the option to customize the handcrafted Canadel wooden paneling with a variety of wood types to suit their preferences.
The theme of the serene night sky continues with the Illuminated Fascia on the Spectre. Developed over two years and more than 10,000 hours, this feature includes the Spectre nameplate surrounded by a cluster of over 5,500 stars.
At the event, guests not only had the opportunity to witness the artistic masterpiece, the Spectre – Rolls-Royce’s embodiment of contemporary aesthetics as the brand enters the electrification era – but also heard firsthand from company representatives about the inspiration, creative journey, and special highlights of this landmark vehicle for the new era.
In 1900, Sir Charles Rolls, co-founder of Rolls-Royce, foresaw the potential for an electrified automotive future when he owned The Columbia Electric Carriage. However, due to the technical limitations and infrastructure constraints of that era, including a lack of widespread charging stations and inadequate battery technology, this vision had to wait 124 years to become reality. Today, with the convergence of technology, infrastructure, market demand, and cost-effectiveness, Sir Charles Rolls' prophecy has been realized with the introduction of the Spectre, the brand's first all-electric vehicle.
Alongside the Spectre, the event also featured the Clanivona electric piano from Yamaha Music, creating a symphony of electric machines in the sustainable era. Through extensive research and development, Yamaha has created electric pianos that can simulate the resonance and sound field of a Grand Piano with 88 keys, each with entirely different weights. The model showcased at the event, the Clavinova CLP-585, received the Red Dot Design Award in 2015, recognizing its excellence in design and functionality. Additionally, Clavinova was named one of Time magazine's "50 Most Influential Devices of All Time," underscoring Clavinova's pioneering role in the music and technology industries.
The presence of the Clavinova electric piano is a testament to the ever-growing advancements in electrification and digitization. Yamaha Music has pioneered digital thinking and technological development for over 40 years. However, even earlier than the musical instrument field, in England more than a century ago, Sir Rolls had 'predicted' this transformation in the automotive industry.
Listening to classical music by Mozart, Beethoven, and Chopin performed on the Clanivona while chatting with friends about Sir Rolls' prophecy and the Spectre in the new era, the event hosted by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Ho Chi Minh City brought unforgettable emotions and bonding opportunities for distinguished guests, paving the way for a 2025 filled with innovation and sustainable development.
